It was December 18, 2008 and Chicago had been hit with a terrible snowstorm. Rachel was working in Skokie, IL (about 20 miles north of their apartment) and decided to head home early at about 4:00pm. The interstates were jammed, snow removal was slow and the travel times were reaching 5-7 hours. Rachel communicated to Derek by phone and he told her to call him when she was about 10 minutes from home. She assumed Derek
was going to have dinner ready for her when she walked in the door. 20 miles and 4 hours later, an exhausted Rachel comes home to 100 candles lit all around the living room and a little black box on the center of the table.Derek got down on one knee, brushed some snow off of Rachel and asked her to marry him!
